Tatarstan starts exporting oats to China

KAZAN. March 26 (Interfax) - Tatarstan has exported its first shipment of table oats to China, the local branch of the Federal Center for Assessment of Agricultural Product Safety and Quality (TsOK APK) said in a press release.

"The experts of the [TsOK APK] branch's testing laboratory for the first time tested samples from a shipment of table oat grain totaling 1,000 tonnes intended for export to China," the release said.

The lab tests confirmed that the oats "fully comply with the standards and national requirements of the Chinese side," the TsOK APK branch's deputy chief inspector, Polina Azarenko said in the press release.

Tatarstan harvested about 87,000 tonnes of oats in 2024, or almost 3% of the Russian total, the center reported.

Until recently, Tatarstan exported legumes (primarily peas), barley, wheat, oil crops and processed grain products to China.
