U.S., Ukraine agree to work on Black Sea navigation, ending attacks on energy facilities - White House

WASHINGTON. March 25 (Interfax) - Washington and Kiev have agreed at talks to work on ensuring safe navigation in the Black Sea and ending strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine, a White House statement said.

"The United States and Ukraine have agreed to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea," the statement said.

In addition, the U.S. and Ukraine have agreed to develop measures to implement agreements reached between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to ban strikes on energy infrastructure both in Russia and in Ukraine, it said.

The U.S. also promised to continue to facilitate prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine and "the release of civilian detainees," the statement said.

The provisions regarding Black Sea navigation and ending strikes on energy infrastructure coincided with those from the statement issued after U.S.-Russia talks.

The U.S-Ukraine and U.S.-Russia talks took place in Saudi Arabia on March 23-25.
