Perimter of Vostok Oil project expanded from 52 to 60 license areas in 2024, resource base increases to 7 bln tonnes of oil - Rosneft

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - The perimeter of the Vostok Oil project has been expanded from 52 to 60 license areas in 2024, with the resource base under the Russian classification increasing to 7 billion tonnes of oil, Rosneft said.

Last year, 700 linear km of 2D seismic surveys and 600 square km of 3D surveys were completed, four wells were tested, one well is being drilled and testing is underway on three more wells.

Rosneft is continuing pilot development of the Payakhskoye, Ichemmin, and Baykalovskoye fields. Operational drilling reached 92,000 meters in 2024, and 11 production wells were completed. Transportation of produced oil to the nearby Suzunskoye field has been organized based on the results of drilling and testing wells at the Payakhskoye field.

Construction of the Vankor-Payakha-Sever Bay main oil pipeline continues. As of the end of 2024, over 78,000 piles have been installed, and 359 km of pipeline including a 119 km dual-pipe section have been laid to design elevations. This includes the laying and pneumatic testing of the main pipeline crossing the Yenisei river, with work ongoing on the backup line.

The majority of work on the construction of two cargo berths and a berth for the port fleet at the Port Sever Bay terminal has been completed. Construction of the first oil loading berth is ongoing, preparatory work for the second berth is underway, and construction of the oil delivery and acceptance point and the Suzun oil pumping station, logistics infrastructure, hydraulic structures, shoreline reinforcement and expansion of coastal and berth infrastructure are progressing.

The Vostok Oil project involves the development of oil fields on the Taimyr Peninsula. Previously, the project's resource base consisted of 6.5 billion tonnes of premium low-sulfur oil. It includes license areas in the north of Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Rosneft has scheduled the first phase of the Vostok Oil project for 2026. Production under the project could reach 100 million tonnes of oil per year.
