Ukrainian agencies report decreasing grain exports, publish spring sowing campaign stats

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Ukraine has exported 30.842 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops since the start of the 2024/25 marketing year (July 2024 to June 2025), including 1.66 million tonnes shipped on March 1-14, 2025 alone, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and the State Customs Service.

As of March 15, 2024, the overall volume of grain exported from Ukraine stood at 32.265 million tonnes, including 2.595 million tonnes over March 1-15, 2024.

Since the start of this season, Ukraine has exported 12.478 million tonnes of wheat (compared to 12.864 million tonnes in the 2023/24 MY), 2.192 million tonnes of barley (1.806 million tonnes), 10,800 tonnes of rye (1,000 tonnes), and 15.691 million tonnes of corn (17.309 million).

As of March 14, the overall amount of Ukrainian flour exports since the start of the season has been estimated at 50,500 tonnes (76,000 tonnes in the 2024/24 MY), including 46,600 tonnes of wheat flour (72,200 tonnes).

Media also quoted Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as saying that, as of mid-March, 15 Ukrainian regions sowed 83,000 hectares of farmland with spring grain and legumes.

"Ukrainian farmers started actively sowing early spring crops this week. Fifteen regions sowed spring grain and leguminous crops on 83,000 hectares of farmland," Shmygal said at a government meeting on Friday.

Ukrainian farmers plan to sow 5.7 million hectares of farmland with grain and legumes in 2025, he said.
