Russian ministries ordered to coordinate fulfillment of energy equipment needs to 2042 -Novak
MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Russia's Industry and Trade Ministry and Energy Ministry will have to reconcile the balance of demand and production of energy equipment in the country to 2042, the government said in a press release after a meeting on the development of the power engineering industry held by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
"The Energy Ministry and Industry and Trade Ministry must balance the needs for production of energy equipment to 2042 based on medium-term and long-term plans for construction and modernization of generating facilities. This also refers to combined cycle gas turbines and steam turbine units. This will make it possible to correlate the capabilities of Russian industry with the needs of demand for specialized equipment from energy companies and generate guaranteed underlying demand for it," Novak said in the press release.
"Manufacturers must guarantee compliance with deadline obligations assumed in contracts for timely commissioning of new generating capacity," Manturov said in the release, adding that Russia "must not retreat from previously made decisions to support domestic solutions" in power engineering in pursuit of import substitution.
The share of domestic equipment in Russia's electricity sector is now 82% in value terms, the press release said, citing Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov.
"The Energy Ministry of Russia is compiling an industry order for production of turbines and core energy equipment to 2042 with oversight of production at key manufacturing points," Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said.
In the long term, the energy sector needs more than 77 GW of generating equipment because of the "growth of demand for electricity, and the need to put new generating facilities into operation and modernize existing ones," Tsivilev said.
