FESCO launches intermodal container service between Laos and Russia
MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - The FESCO transport company, which is under the Rosatom state corporation's control, is launching of intermodal container transport between Laos and Russia via the Vietnamese port of Da Nang as part of its efforts to expand logistics operations into Southeast Asia.
The transit time for deliveries from Laos to Moscow via Vladivostok is approximately 35 days.
Loading and dispatch of containers takes place in ten major locations in Laos. From there, cargo is shipped by road to Da Nang within 24 hours and packed into feeder vessels bound for Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam or China's ports. The containers are then sent via regular shipping lines to Vladivostok, Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg.
When exporting to Laos, the group uses the same routes in reverse.
The FESCO transport group, whose parent company is PJSC Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO), owns assets in the port, railway and integrated logistics business. FESCO owns PJSC Commercial Port of Vladivostok , the FESCO Integrated Transport intermodal operator, the Dalreftrans refrigerated container operator, as well as the Transgarant and FESCO Trans companies.
The group manages terminal complexes in Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Tomsk, and Vladivostok. The company manages a container fleet of over 12000,000 TEU and over 15,000 flat cars. The group's fleet includes more than 30 vessels, which operate primarily on the company's own shipping lines. The controlling stake of 92.5% in FESCO was transferred to Rosatom as per Russian presidential decree in November 2023.
