Russia, Qatar discuss importance of joint efforts to protect gas exporters, including new financial instruments
MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russia's Deputy Energy Minister Roman Marshavin has discussed energy cooperation with Qatar Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Nasser Al-Thani, Russia's Energy Ministry said.
The parties specifically discussed collaboration within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the importance of joint efforts to protect the interests of gas exporters in global energy markets, including the creation of new financial instruments, and cooperation in the energy sector.
The parties also discussed preparations for the 5th meeting of the Russia-Qatar commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation.
Qatar is one of the three largest exporters of liquefied natural gas, along with the United States and Australia.
