Russia to extend gasoline export ban exception for producers until Sept - source

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The Russian government has decided to extend the ban on gasoline exports for another six months, from March through September, but it will only apply to non-producers, a source familiar with the results of a meeting Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held on this matter told Interfax.

The government issued a resolution in March 2024 banning gasoline exports for six months, but with a number of exceptions, such as for exports under intergovernmental agreements. As the market was glutted, it also made an exception from the ban for gasoline producers who refined more than 1 million tonnes of oil in 2022 from May 20 to the end of June and subsequently extended it to the end of July. Then this resolution expired.

The government issued a new resolution on August 13, 2024 to ban gasoline exports from September to the end of 2024. The ban was eased in December, allowing producers to export gasoline, but for others it was extended to the end of January, and then to February.
