Russia exports over 20,000 tonnes of powdered milk in 2024 - Agroexport center

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russia has been boosting exports of powdered skim milk and powdered whole milk in recent years, having exported over 20,000 tonnes in 2023 and 2024 versus just over 4,000 tonnes in 2022, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said, citing expert estimates.

The main buyer has been Kazakhstan that has accounted for 42% of exports, with Algeria at 19% and Armenia at 9% rounding out the top three purchasers.

Agroexport said that the Middle East is one of the promising areas for exports, to which Russia shipped around 1,500 tonnes of powdered milk in 2024, with the bulk of the volume going Egypt. Russia started exporting the product to Saudi Arabia in 2023, having shipped over 110 tonnes there last year.

As reported, exports of powdered milk increased to $48.1 million in 2024 from $41.9 million in 2023, Agroexport said in a presentation at the second forum of dairy industry leaders in January in Moscow.
