Russia's Amur region sees gold production nearly halve in Jan
BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Gold production in the Amur region decreased 49.7% in January compared to the same period last year, to 620.1 kg, according to materials from the region's Natural Resources Ministry.
Among Atlas Mining assets, the Malomyr mine reduced output 76.2% to 100 kg, while the Pokrovsky mine cut production 21.2% to 328 kg. The Temi company reduced gold production 80.4% to 19 kg and the Albyn mine also showed a negative trend, with production dropping 81.8% to 20 kg.
Priisk Solovyevsky saw hardrock gold production fall 23.2%, yielding 90.6 kg. Nordgold's Berezitovy mine reduced output 15.2% to 62.5 kg. It also produced 113.7 kg of silver.
The Berezitovy mine is completing extraction at its deposit and is moving into the reclamation phase, the regional Natural Resources Ministry told Interfax.
"At the Albyn mine, a number of technical issues have arisen following a technical upgrade of the processing plant, preventing the transition to the new ore processing technology (the gravity-cyanide method) in March 2025. As a result, the transition is being postponed until April 2025," the ministry said.
Production estimates by individual mining companies may differ from official figures. Among other reasons, discrepancies in the amount of gold in unfinished production may account for these differences.
