IAEA head to visit Ukraine next week

BRUSSELS. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit Kiev next week for several high-level meetings, a statement on the IAEA website said on Thursday.

"Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will travel to Ukraine next week for high-level meetings in Kiev, in which the ongoing efforts of the IAEA to help prevent a nuclear accident during the military conflict will be discussed," the statement said.

It did not say whether Grossi planned to visit Russia any time soon.

Earlier, the head of the Rosatom state corporation, Alexei Likhachev, said that Grossi intended to visit Russia for consultations over security at nuclear power facilities in the first half of February.
