Kazakhstan's economy grows 4.8% in 2024

ASTANA. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's GDP rose 4.8% in 2024, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.

"Last year, Kazakhstan's economy expanded by 4.8%, with the highest growth in agriculture, construction, trade and transport," Bektenov said at the government's extended meeting, which was attended by the country's president.

Shortly after his appointment as prime minister in February 2024, Bektenov asked for economic growth of at least 6% for the year.

In January-November 2024, Kazakhstan's GDP increased by 4.4%. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the economic growth of 4% was too slow for the republic."I am convinced that the economic growth of 4% is too slow for Kazakhstan. That is what I usually tell foreign representatives as well. The government will have to find drivers for a higher economic growth," he said.

Kazakhstan's GDP grew 5.1% in 2023.
