Russia, Libya working on resuming intergovernmental commission's work, see potential in fuel and energy sector

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Energy Minister Roman Marshavin has discussed preparations for resuming the activities of the Russian-Libyan Intergovernmental Commission with Libya's Ambassador to Russia Emhemmed Almagrawi, the Energy Ministry said.

"The parties noted the mutual interest in enhancing trade, economic, and scientific and technical cooperation. The possibility of a bilateral meeting between the co-chairs of the Russian-Libyan Intergovernmental Commission - Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Libyan Transport Minister Mohamed Al-Shahubi - is being explored," it said.

Russian organizations remain interested in participating in energy projects in Libya, Marshavin said. "Libya is a promising partner for Russia among African countries. We see potential for developing bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector as well as in other areas," he said.
