Ukraine increases electricity import expenses 4.3 times in 2024

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Ukraine imported $669.78 million worth of electricity in 2024, which is 4.3 times more than in 2023 ($154.693 million).

Ukraine imported $214.062 million worth of electricity via Hungary, $159.805 million via Slovakia, $128.678 via Romania, and $167.234 million via other countries, Ukrainian media said, citing the State Customs Service.

In 2024, the electricity import expenses were the largest in July ($120.402 million) and August ($136.288 million) and the smallest in February ($17.508 million) and March ($10.784 million).

Electricity export revenues decreased by 18.4% ($18.326 million) last year versus 2023 and stood at $81.022 million.
