Russia increases export of grain, grain derivatives by 4% to 83.5 mln tonnes in 2024 - Rosselkhoznadzor
MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Russia exported 83.5 million tonnes of grain and grain derivatives in 2024, which is four percent more than in 2023, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said, citing data from the federal state information system Argus-Fito as of December 15, 2024.
The corresponding materials have been published on the agency's Telegram channel on January 6.
The main buyers of these products were the countries of the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Vietnam, Nigeria, Morocco, Sri Lanka and some other countries increased the procurements of Russian grain products the most. Export to Ethiopia, Djibouti, Palestine, and Sierra Leone resumed last year.
According to the agency's materials, China was among the top five buyers of Russian grain last year. The export of summer wheat to this country doubled and the export of barley increased by 43%. Besides, China ranked first in the import of Russian oats, whose procurement increased by 23%.
Last year, the relevant agencies of the two countries competed the work to grant Russian farina and rye wheat access to the Chinese market, which had been done for many years, the agency said.
