Gazprom supplies 31 bcm of gas to China via Power of Siberia pipeline in 2024

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Gazprom has supplied about 31 billion cubic meters of gas to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in 2024, the Russian gas giant's CEO Alexei Miller said during a pre-New Year conference call.

A contract volume of 30 bcm was envisaged for 2024. More was supplied because the pipeline reached full export capacity of 38 bcm a month earlier than planned.

"We already know for certain that we will exceed the plan for gas supplies to China, 30 bcm, by the end of 2024. We will supply something like 31 bcm. And of course, such a start with Power of Siberia already operating at full design capacity gives us reason to believe that we will supply gas to China in excess of contractual obligations in 2025," he said.

Gazprom began supplying gas to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in 2019 from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia. The Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk Region was connected to the system in 2022.

The latest increase in daily deliveries will make Gazprom the largest supplier of pipeline gas to China, surpassing Turkmenistan with a lot of room to spare.

Russia has long been the leading overall supplier of gas - pipeline gas plus gas in liquefied form - to China.
