Russia's Khabarovsk int'l airport, China's Harbin air hub to develop route network, tourism jointly

KHABAROVSK. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Russia's Khabarovsk International Airport has signed an agreement with China's Harbin air hub on collaborative work to expand the route network, as well as boost the frequency of flights and the number of air carriers, the Khabarovsk airport's press service posted on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

As noted, the parties intend to develop transit transportation and conduct joint marketing aimed at increasing passenger traffic.

The airports have also agreed to interact actively with local tourism organizations to promote Khabarovsk as a tourist destination in Harbin and vice versa.

Russia's Aurora Airlines currently operates flights on the Khabarovsk-Harbin route three times per week.

Khabarovsk International Airport is one of the largest air hubs in Russia's Far Eastern Federal District. Commissioning the airport's new international terminal is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

As reported, Khabarovsk Airport plans to boost passenger traffic at least 10% to 2.264 million travelers in 2024.

Harbin Taiping International Airport is the largest airport in China's Heilongjiang Province. The airport serves about 20 million passengers per year, placing 22nd in China. A new international terminal was opened in 2024.
