IAEA head planning next round of Zaporozhye NPP talks with Russia, Ukraine for early 2025

PARIS. Dec 5 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Thursday he was hoping to hold the next round of negotiations on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant situation with Russia and Ukraine in several weeks.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for the beginning of next year, which is several weeks from now, Grossi said at a conference on the use of atomic energy in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Samarkand.

He said the IAEA was working on the Zaporozhye NPP situation and added that he had a series of meetings with Russian officials, representatives of Rosatom, the Russian Defense Ministry and the Federal Service for the Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management (Rostekhnadzor), in order to assess the situation from the side of Russia.

Grossi said he was in contact with Ukraine on the issue, as well.
