Belarus's MTW to set up assembly of tractors with over 100 hp in Pakistan

MINSK. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The Minsk Tractor Works (MTW), one of the largest manufacturers of tractors and farm machinery in the CIS, plans to set up assembly of Belarus tractors with more than 100 hp in Pakistan, the Belarusian company reported.

The plans were announced "following negotiations between a Belarusian delegation led by Industry Minister Alexander Yefimov and the management of Pakistani companies Green Corporate Initiative (Private) Limited and Heavy Industries Taxila," MTW said in a press release.

MTW chief executive Sergei Avramenko signed a memorandum on cooperation that sets out the specific timetable and plan of action for implementing the project, the company said.

"Industrial cooperation is one of the most important focuses of our joint work with our Pakistani partners. Tractors with more than 100 hp have not been supplied to Pakistan on a regular basis before. And the organization of assembly has long-term mutually beneficial prospects," Avramenko said in the press release.

"We are also talking about setting up production of not only Belarus tractors, but also components for them," he said.
