China increases purchases of Russian buckwheat 1.8-fold to $75.6 mln in 10M - state customs service
MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - China increased purchases of Russian buckwheat 1.8-fold year-on-year to $75.6 million in the first 10 months of the year from $40.9 million in the same period last year, China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) said.
However, supplies dropped 50% month-on-month to $4.3 million in October, as well as from $4.7 million the previous year.
Nevertheless, Russia has retained to the position as the leading supplier of buckwheat to the Chinese market. China purchased buckwheat from three countries last month, including Bolivia and Peru.
China also imported Russian oats in October totaling $4.96 million compared to $3.8 million the previous year. Supplies of Russian oats increased 1.9-fold to $43.4 million in 10M 2024 from $23.3 million in 10M 2023.
China has purchased oats from four other countries this year, with the largest supplier being Australia at $75.5 million and Russia in second place.
