Ukrainian Railways to launch new Kiev-Budapest train from Dec 15
MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways is launching a new daily direct Kiev-Budapest train service from December 15.
"We are launching a daily direct Kiev-Budapest train from December 15. This service will become Ukrzaliznytsia's 20th international train," Ukrainian media quoted the company as saying in a statement.
The train will consist of standard sleeper cars with four-berth compartments and two-berth deluxe compartment.
The train will depart from Kiev at 10:16 a.m. and arrive in Budapest at 6:00 a.m. the following day. On its way back, the train will depart from Budapest at 10:40 p.m. and arrive in Kiev at 7:11 p.m. the following day. A sleeper car ticket will cost around 3,000 hryvni.
Ukrainian Railways will also launch another train to Warsaw from Rava Russkaya on December 15 as part of the rolling stock of the Polish state-run operator PKP Intercity in addition to the service provided by Poland's SKPL.
"There will be more trains to Warsaw. Ukrainian Railways launches another pair of trains on the Warsaw - Rava Russkaya - Lvov route and adds service to Chernovtsy. A train of the Polish PKP Intercity will be available on the Rava Russkaya - Lvov - Chernovtsy route. A Ukrainian-made DPKr-3 diesel train will operate on the Rava Russkaya - Lvov - Chernovtsy route," Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Railways press release.
Ukrainian Railways jointly with Slovak Railways will also launch a new train route to Slovakia's Bratislava on December 15.
Ukrainian Railways' Kiev - Chop - Kiev train with a change to Slovak Railways' Chop - Bratislava - Chop train will run on this rail route, the media reported, citing the Ukrainian Railways' press service.
"This is a transfer route. It will connect Kiev, Lvov and Mukachevo with Bratislava, as well as with other major Slovak cities, in particular, Kosice, Zilina, Trnava, Trencin and Poprad through the Chop rail station," the statement said.
The cost of Kiev - Chop train tickets is 700 hryvni, Chop - Bratislava train tickets 1,500 hryvni.
At night, passengers will travel between Kiev and Chop in Ukrainian Railways' sleeping cars, while in the daytime, there will be Slovak Railways' sitting cars on the Chop - Bratislava rail route, it said.
The transfer between trains is agreed, and two tickets can be bought in one click in the Ukrainian Railways mobile application and on its official website.
