Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada adopts 2025 state budget
MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada endorsed the 2025 state budget in the second reading and as a whole on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported.
The 2025 state budget adopted by the Verkhovna Rada clearly sets priorities amid limited resources, the media quoted Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as saying in a statement on social media.
All taxes paid by individuals and companies will be channeled for defense needs next year, Shmygal said. "The total resource allocated for the security and defense sector will reach 2.23 trillion hryvni. Record funds will be earmarked for the production and purchase of weapons, as 739 billion hryvni is envisaged for this," he said.
Nearly 421 billion hryvni is to be allocated for the assistance programs in the social sector, Shmygal said.
"Expenditures on education will total 199 billion hryvni and 217 billion hryvni on healthcare. In total, 10.7 billion hryvni is envisaged for the renovation of medical institutions, purchase of advanced equipment and establishing rehabilitation centers. An additional 17.5 billion hryvni is provided for retrofitting educational institutions and setting up shelters," he added.
In particular, the resource of local budgets will rise 15%, Shmygal said.
