Cargo turnover of Ukrainian seaports reaches 8 mln tonnes in Oct

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Ukrainian ports transshipped 8 million tonnes of cargo, including 6.8 million tonnes, or 85% via the maritime corridor, in October, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

This is 11.5% more than in September, when 7.178 million tonnes of cargo were transshipped, Deputy Restoration Minister Timur Tkachenko said.

Over half of the cargo transshipped by ports in October is agricultural products. They amounted to 5 million tonnes, or almost 3.3 times more than in the respective period of last year, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority said.

Grains accounted for over half of the cargo transshipped by the maritime corridor in October: 4.5 million tonnes out of 6.8 million tonnes. Ore transshipment reached 1.4 million tonnes or almost twice as much as in October 2023.

As reported earlier, ports increased cargo transshipment by 78.1% in January-October 2024, versus the respective period of 2023, from 46.1 million to 82.1 million tonnes.
