Demand for used cars in Ukraine in Oct drops to new 2024 low

MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Around 16,300 used cars were imported into Ukraine from abroad in October 2024, which is 23% fewer than in October 2023 and 4% fewer than in September 2024, Ukrainian media quoted Ukrautoprom, the national association of motor vehicle manufacturers, as saying on its social account

"This is the lowest monthly number of registrations of imported second-hand cars this year," it said.

At the same time, the number of used cars registered in October was 2.8 times higher than that of new ones.

As reported, August saw some 25,700 imported used cars registered in Ukraine, the highest number in 2024 and over the previous 25 months.

As before, vehicles with petrol engines accounted for 46% of all second-hand cars imported into Ukraine in October, those with diesel engines 26%, electric cars 20%, and LNG-powered and hybrid cars 4% each.

The average age of imported used cars reregistered in Ukraine in October was 9.5 years, compared to 9.2 years in September.

The Volkswagen Golf was the used car most frequently imported into Ukraine in October (1,028 registrations). The top ten of the most popular car models brought into Ukraine from abroad last month also include Renault Megane (766), Skoda Octavia (634), Nissan Leaf (477), Volkswagen Passat (454), Volkswagen Tiguan (431), Audi Q5 (374), Audi A4 (323), Volkswagen Touran (305), and Tesla Model Y (299).

A total of nearly 192,300 used cars were registered in Ukraine in the first ten months of 2024, which is 14% more than in the same period in 2023.

As reported, the number of used cars imported into Ukraine in 2023 declined by 45% to 214,400 from 2022.
