Kyrgyzstan bans registration of new air carriers

BISHKEK. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has imposed a moratorium on the registration and certification of new air carriers, the presidential press service said on Monday.

"President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a decree introducing a moratorium on the registration and issuance of operator certificates to air carriers," it said.

Under the document, the State Agency for Civil Aviation has been ordered to inspect air carriers that operate flights exclusively inside Kyrgyzstan or have aircraft that have been absent from the country's airports for more than a month.

Based on the results of the check, the registration and operator certificates of airlines that fail to meet the country's requirements will be annulled.
