Ukraine, Turkey to enhance phytosanitary supervision of grain exports
MOSCOW. Oct 28 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Turkey are making efforts to prevent downtime of ships shipping grain.
Turkish representatives proposed carrying out joint phytosanitary procedures, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Ukrainian State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection's press service following the negotiations with the Turkish National Plant Protection Organization.
This involves forwarding the list and copies of phytosanitary certificates issued by state phytosanitary inspectors for cargo exports to Turkey. If the instances of forging phytosanitary certificates are uncovered, the Turkish National Plant Protection Organization will submit to the Ukrainian State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection a copy of the forged certificate and a message indicating the exporter, which is prohibited from importing goods subject to regulation, for further response.
"These measures should prevent unjustified trade barriers from emerging between various countries during exports and imports of plants and plant products, in particular, to avoid delays of vehicles carrying Ukrainian products, due to which exporting companies incur financial losses," it said.
