Kyrgyzstan's president supports developing alternative methods for cross-border payments

BISHKEK. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov during the BRICS summit on Thursday spoke in favor of alternative methods for cross-border payments.

"I am convinced that developing alternative methods for cross-border payments within BRICS, upgrading financial instruments to utilize digital capabilities, and improving the payment infrastructure would contribute to the growth and efficiency of trade on the regional and global level," Japarov's press service quoted him as saying.

Japarov said that Kyrgyzstan shares the BRICS goals to develop entrepreneurship and digital and environmentally friendly technologies, as well as resolve climate issues.

Japarov also said that Kyrgyzstan is interested in collaborating with the New Development Bank, especially to finance infrastructure projects and sustainable development projects within the BRICS countries and within other emerging market countries.

Japarov further expressed the country's readiness to contribute to collective efforts to resolve key issues on the agenda, and expressed interest in solidifying multifaceted collaboration.
