Russian Railways' investment program to be slightly reduced for 2025 - Transport Minister

KAZAN. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The investment program of Russian Railways will be slightly reduced for 2025, Transport Minister Roman Starovoit told reporters on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.

"Accounting for the Russian government's current decisions on tariff indexation, the investment program will be reduced somewhat. However, it should remain at a level necessary to develop the railway infrastructure, as well as to support our industry, because supplying locomotive stock, where Russian enterprises are involved, as well as railway cars, directly affects the investment program," Starovoit told reporters regarding Russian Railways' investment program for 2025.

"It will be approximately within the same limits as last year, and there will be a slight decrease," Starovoit said regarding the volume of the investment program.

As reported, Russian Railways' investment program was approved at around 1.275 trillion rubles for 2024, particularly investments of 366 billion rubles to develop infrastructure in the Eastern area.
