Ukrainian Railways to receive 120 hopper cars that can be used on standard-gauge track
MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The Transport Logistics Center, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways, or UZ), will receive 120 new 19-8005-U hopper cars by the end of 2024, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the company's website.
"The hopper cars are designed to be used on the entire network of a 1,520-mm track. They allow for replacing Type 2 1,520-mm wheel trucks with 1,435-mm trucks using screw couplers and buffer unis, capable of moving at up to 120 km/h, avoiding the need to use coupling cars," it said.
The hopper cars in question have the 02-VM loading gauge, five loading and six unloading hatches, and a volume of 104 cubic meters and can carry 69,500 tonnes of cargo.
