Kaliningrad Region starts exporting sunflower meal to Vietnam

KALININGRAD. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Kaliningrad Region increased exports of various types of meal by 8% to 790,000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2024 from 733,000 tonnes a year earlier and exported sunflower meal to Vietnam for the first time, the regional division of Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor reported.

"In Kaliningrad Region, Rosselkhoznadzor monitored 790,000 tonnes of meal shipped for export from January through September 2024. Shipments included soybean, rapeseed, flax, rye and sunflower meal," the agency said. Meal was exported by sea and railway.

The Baltic exclave exported 10,000 tonnes of sunflower meal to Vietnam in the nine months.

Almost 80% of meal exports, or 625,000 tonnes were shipped to Belarus, Turkey, Uzbekistan and a number of other countries. Meal was also exported to Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Israel, Morocco, China and Tajikistan.

Assessments done by the Federal Center for Animal Health found that the exported meal met the standards of destination countries.
