Ukrainian NPPs operating as planned, can generate more electricity if needed - Energoatom

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian nuclear power plant operator Energoatom has completed the scheduled maintenance of all nuclear power plants controlled by Kiev, all the nine of their power units are currently generating electricity and can increase generation if necessary, Energoatom head Pyotr Kotin said.

"All of our nine units are operating and generating electricity at a capacity required by the power grid," Ukrainian media quoted Kotin as saying at a conference in Kiev on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian NPPs can increase electricity generation to meet current demand, Kotin said. "We have a considerable amount of capacity in reserve, which we can add if necessary," he said.

As reported, Energoatom controls the Rovno, Khmelnitsky, and South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plants. In its presentation at the conference, the company estimated the aggregate design capacity of the nine nuclear power units at 8.13 GW.
