Over 550 communities in Ukraine have no electricity - Ukrenergo
MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - As of Monday morning, 553 communities in Ukraine were fully or partially cut off from power supply for various reasons, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the national power grid operator Ukrenergo's statement on its social account.
New power supply disruptions were recorded in the Kharkov, Sumy, and Chernigov regions, and 30 communities were cut off from power supply due to bad weather in the Dnepropetrovsk, Chernigov, and Volyn regions on Monday morning.
Technical breaches also caused power supply cuts in the Kirovograd region and the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye region, it said.
On the whole, power consumption was consistent with regular seasonal patterns, Ukrenergo said.
Electricity imports from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova were expected to decline by 40% to 6,367 MW/h on Monday compared to Sunday, it said.
As the grid regularly experiences a capacity shortage during daily consumption peaks, Ukrenergo urged using powerful electric appliances between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when solar power plants effectively generate electricity.
