Roadmap signed for Roscosmos' accession to Gazprom SC AIT Facility

MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman Vitaly Markelov and Roscosmos First Deputy General Director Andrei Yelchaninov have signed a roadmap of Roscosmos accession to Gazprom Spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing Facility (Gazprom SC AIT Facility) via the United Rocket and Space Corporation at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, Gazprom Space Systems said.

The roadmap will allow carrying out joint projects with Roscosmos at the Gazprom SC AIT Facility for a broad range of clients.

In particular, Gazprom satellites will be designed for the Sfera federal project, including two communication and broadcast satellites for the Yamal system and nine remote sensing satellites for the Smotr system.

Six Smotr-R radar satellites and three Smotr-V optical-electronic observation satellites with gas analyzers will provide services for fuel and energy infrastructure monitoring, which is important in particular for the economic development of the Russian Arctic. The services will contribute to the implementation of the Data Economy national project by providing initial data to the government and businesses.

The Gazprom SC AIT Facility designs, assembles and tests spacecraft. It was founded in 2015 for building a spacecraft assembly facility to support the development of satellite constellations of Gazprom and other potential clients. For now, its shareholders are Gazprom Investproyekt and Gazprom Space Systems.
