Russia not discussing gas swap supply from Azerbaijan, Turkey to EU involving Ukrainian pipelines, no infrastructure anyway - Novak

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Talks on gas swap supplies to Europe from Azerbaijan and Turkey to keep the Ukrainian gas transportation system operating after Russia-Ukraine transit agreement has been terminated are not being held with Moscow's participation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.

"This is not being discussed because here there would have to be...Firstly, there are no such proposals, and secondly, I don't think there is the gas transmission infrastructure for this," he said.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said talks have been held in recent months on supplying Azerbaijani gas to Europe via Russia and Ukraine.
