Ukrainian Energy Ministry reports power supply problems in several regions

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - As of Tuesday morning, 26 communities in the Sumy region, five in the Dnepropetrovsk region, and one in the Cherkassy region of Ukraine were cut off from power supply because of weather anomalies, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Energy Ministry on Tuesday.

Power supply problems have also been reported in the Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkov, and Chernigov regions and some other parts of the country.

Engineers have restored power supply to 2,564 households in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

In all, 546 communities across Ukraine were fully or partially cut off from power supply for various reasons, including technical breaches, on Tuesday morning.

Ukraine planned to import 2,199 MW/h of electricity from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova on September 8, with transmission capacity reaching 581 MW during certain hours, it said.
