USIAD assistance package to Ukrenergo tops $126 mln since crisis beginning
MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The package of assistance provided to Ukrenergo under the USAID Energy Security Project since the beginning of the crisis has topped $126 million, Ukrainian media said, citing the power transmission system operator.
"Besides providing equipment, USAID also helps build security systems at key Ukrenergo facilities," media said, citing the operator's statement on a social network after a meeting of Ukrenergo Investment Director Oleg Pavlenko with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power.
Some of the equipment has been delivered and began operation, while some other has been contracted, Ukrenergo said.
Pavlenko and Power visited an energy facility in western Ukraine and familiarized themselves with the equipment, the uninterrupted operation of which was enabled by American partners' assistance in repairing and replacing damaged infrastructure.
Power said earlier that USAID provided Ukraine with 10,000 tonnes of rebar and 200 miles of steel mesh for power facilities.
