Gazprom to assess monetizing Tambeiskoye gas through gas chemicals
MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to assess the option of monetizing gas from the huge Tambeiskoye field in the northern part of the Yamal Peninsula by processing it.
Gazprom is doing a pre-investment exploration of alternative options for monetizing Tambeiskoye gas, company materials said. Among other things, it plans to carry out a feasibility study and explore options for setting up production of methanol, ammonia and urea.
The Tambeiskoye gas condensate field is located within three licensed areas: Zapadno-Tambeisky, Severo-Tambeisky and Tasiysky. The cluster has reserves of more than 5.2 trillion cubic meters of gas and 380 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate, and is expected to produce 55 bcm of gas per year.
It was reported earlier that there are plans to build a pipeline to connect Tambeiskoye to the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta system of trunk gas pipelines to transport gas from the field.
At the Russian Energy Week forum in September, President Vladimir Putin instructed Gazprom to prepare a ten-year plan that will ensure its sustainable development and construction of infrastructure to reroute exports. The plan must also include increasing gas processing within Russia.
