Ukrenergo temporarily cuts off power supply in parts of Kharkov, Poltava regions

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine's national power grid operator Ukrenergo ordered applying emergency outage schedules in certain parts of the Kharkov and Poltava regions on Thursday morning, which it lifted a couple of hours later in the day, Ukrainian media reported citing the company.

"To avoid equipment overload and reduce the voltage in regional power grids, emergency outage schedules have been applied in certain parts of the Kharkov and Poltava regions since 10:15 a.m. The application of emergency outage schedules will continue until the repairs are completed," Ukrenergo said on its social account.

A total of 538 communities were fully or partially cut off from power supply for various reasons, including technical breaches, as of Thursday morning, compared to 654 such communities on Wednesday.

In general, power consumption in Ukraine tends to grow, its level on Thursday was 1.5% higher than on Wednesday, and a consumption peak recorded on Wednesday evening was 2.2% higher than the Tuesday peak, it said.

Ukraine intends to import nearly 4,500 MW/h of electricity on Thursday, which is one-third more than it did on Wednesday.

Ukrenergo announced at around noon on Thursday that the emergency outage schedules in the Kharkov and Poltava regions were lifted.
