Ukrainian PM, USAID administrator discuss energy, housing restoration in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and USAID Administrator Samantha Power have discussed energy issues, the restoration of residential buildings and the drinking water supply in Ukraine, Ukrainian media said on Wednesday.

"Energy is our number one priority. We are preparing for a difficult winter. We coordinated our needs in equipment for restoring and decentralizing the power generation system. We discussed important joint projects, including the restoration of residential buildings and the drinking water supply to Nikolayev. We also emphasized the importance of support for projects at the level of cities and communities," Shmygal said in a statement on his Telegram channel following the meeting with Power in Kiev.

The parties also touched upon the progress of Ukraine's reforms, including the USAID's readiness to facilitate and invest in the customs reform, media outlets said.

"I thanked the USAID for its program of support for small and medium-sized businesses. We seek to advance cooperation in this area, including in the agrarian sector," Shmygal said.
