Russia's Lukoil commissions 2MW solar power plant in Kazakhstan's Almaty region

ASTANA. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Russia's Lukoil has commissioned a solar power plant with capacity of 2 MW in Kazakhstan's Almaty region, the company said in a press release.

"The plant will supply environmentally friendly solar energy to the production facilities of LLC Lukoil Lubricants Central Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of PJSC Lukoil," the company said.

The company aims to reduce reliance on grid purchases by generating its own electricity.

Construction of the solar power station began in March, with plans for completion within the year.

According to the company's website, Lukoil Lubricants Central Asia is responsible for distributing Lukoil lubricants in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Afghanistan and China.
