Russian govt adjusts duty on importing strong alcohol from unfriendly countries

MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The Russian government has adjusted the duty rate on importing strong alcohol/spirits from unfriendly countries, according to a resolution signed on September 12 and posted on the official legal information portal.

The resolution indicates that the duty rate on importing ethyl alcohol, infused liqueur, vodka, rum, gin, and other liqueurs will be 20%, though not less than 3 euros per liter.

The previous rate was 20% of the customs value, though not less than 3 euros per liter of 100% alcohol. It increased to this amount at the end of July 2024 from 1.40-1.50 euros per liter of ethyl alcohol.

The new duties are valid until December 31, 2024.
