Kazan expecting around 20,000 visitors during BRICS summit
KAZAN. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Kazan is expecting almost 20,000 visitors to visit for the BRICS summit in late October, the press service for the mayor's office said on Thursday.
"Around 20,000 participants are expected to attend the BRICS summit. Out of 36 invited leaders of foreign countries, 18 have confirmed their participation," the Kazan city administration said in a statement.
Apart from the delegations led by heads of state, numerous journalists, technical staff, law enforcement agents and volunteers will travel to Kazan for the event, it said.
To accommodate them, 54 Kazan hotels have been booked, with some of them renovated in order to meet international standards. Most renovation work is now about to be completed, the city administration said.
Kazan will host the BRICS summit on October 22-24.
