Belarus had 0.1% deflation in Aug, 3.4% inflation in 8M
MINSK. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Consumer prices in Belarus fell 0.1% in August, national statistics agency Belstat said.
There was inflation of 0.03% in July, 0.6% in June and 0.1% in May.
Prices rose 3.4% in January-August.
Annual inflation was 6.1% in August, 5.5% in July and 5.8% in June. Core inflation was 0.4% in July and 3.6% in 8M 2024.
Food prices fell 0.23% in August and rose 3.2% in 8M, non-food prices rose 0.1% and 2.8%, respectively, and service charges rose 0.2% and 4.3%.
Inflation in Belarus slowed to 5.8% in 2023 from 12.8% in 2022 and 10% in 2021.
The government is targeting not more than 6% inflation in 2024.
Belarus continues to regulate prices for almost all goods in the consumer basket, as well as for basic services.
