New Ukrainian FM recalls charge d'affairs a.i. to Georgia, proposes Deputy FM Borovets's discharge
MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - New Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga has announced his first staffing decisions after taking office, Ukrainian media have reported.
"Have announced submitting a proposal on discharging Deputy Minister Irina Borovets and on terminating the long-term mission of the charge d'affairs ad interim to Georgia," Sibiga wrote on his social account.
Sibiga also hosted a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors and consuls general to foreign countries, which he described as "a very candid and substantive dialogue."
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada endorsed Sibiga's appointment as foreign minister on September 5. He previously served as first deputy foreign minister since 2024. In 2021-2024, Sibiga was deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office. In 2016-2021, he served as Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey.
