Russia's Energy Ministry expects to submit Energy Strategy-2050 to govt in two months - Energy Minister Tsivilev

TASHKENT. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Russia's Energy Ministry expects to submit the Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation up to 2050 to the government in two months.

"We have honed our approaches to the energy strategy, if I may say so, at the Eastern Economic Forum. These were open events," Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev told journalists.

"We took one section, a very important one, which is energy in the Far East, and there is an instruction from the president, not only developing the Energy Strategy of Russia 2050. At the last forum, there was another instruction that this is the energy strategy of the Far East. There is our own, unified energy system of the Far East, so we have already worked out all the approaches there," he said.

Tsivilev said that the final information was conveyed to Russia's president after discussing the Far Eastern energy strategy at an open panel session at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

"Therefore, we can confidently say that the approaches have been developed, and we now understand how to do all this. We are currently preparing the entire strategy [of the Russian Federation] for submission to the government. I think that it should take another two months," Tsivilev clarified.

The Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2035 is currently in effect, as approved by the government in June 2020. It was previously assumed that the 2050 strategy would be developed in the first half of 2023, then by the end of 2023, and then plans for its approval were postponed until June 2024.
