Mechel cuts coal output 2% QoQ in Q2 2024, boosts sales of coking coal concentrate 15%

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Mechel cut coal production 2% quarter-on-quarter to 2.51 million tonnes in Q2 2024, the mining and steel company said.

Sales of coking coal concentrate rose 15% quarter-on-quarter to 1.1 million tonnes owing to increased output at the Neryungri open-pit mine.

The company launched operations of a new longwall at the Lenin mine of the Yuzhny Kuzbass company in the third quarter of 2024, which should allow maintaining positive dynamics regarding the production and sales of coking coal concentrate in the next reporting period, Mechel said.
