Damate Group boosts meat product exports 21% to 12,000 tonnes in H1
MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Damate Group, Russia's leading turkey producer, exported 12,000 tonnes of turkey, duck and lamb products in the first half of 2024, 21% more than a year earlier.
This became possible thanks to the development of new sales channels and expansion of the company's product assortment, Damate said in a press release. The growth was driven by turkey products. The company exported about 10,000 tonnes of semi-processed, highly processed and ready-to-eat products to countries in Africa, the Persian Gulf, Asia and the FSU.
More than half of turkey exports went to China, which is a key market for Damate. The company became the leading supplier of this meat to the Chinese market in the first half. It also increased exports to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The main reason for the increase in duck meat exports was the start of shipments to China, the company said. "Countries in the Middle East and CIS remain attractive markets. The assortment of shipped products includes by-products and natural semi-processed products," Damate said.
Exports of lamb, which began in 2023, go to the Middle East. Their assortment was expanded considerably in the first half, the company said.
Damate began exporting in 2015 and now has permission to ship its products to members of the Eurasian Economic Union and 34 other countries.
