Ukraine to receive support from USAID to step up export-import transactions

MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Uzhgorod border crossing point in western Ukraine should increase the volume of imports and exports passing through it by 14,000 tonnes a month, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said while visiting the region.

"USAID's assistance to Uzhgorod Border Crossing Point will increase imports/exports by 14,000 tonnes a month. The eQueue system we're supporting reduces wait times for cargo trucks from 2 days to 2 hours. This, and new facilities, are increasing border efficiency," Ukrainian media quoted Brink as saying on her social account.

Brink had said previously that she was making her first visit to the "historic and innovative" Zakarpattia region. She met with local administration head Viktor Mikita to discuss ways to attract investment, increase renewable energy, and create economic opportunities for Ukrainians to return home.
