New commercial vehicle market shows negative dynamics - Ukravtoprom
MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax) - The number of new commercial vehicles (trucks and specialized vehicles) registered in Ukraine decreased by 2% year-on-year and by 20% month-on-month to 956 in July 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukravtoprom website.
Demand for new commercial vehicles grew every month since the year beginning to 1,108 in June, which was 12% higher than in June 2023 and 6% higher than in May 2024, the association said.
Renault regained its leadership in July with 227 registered vehicles (it also led in July 2023 with 276 registrations). Scania ranked second with 100 vehicles (versus 53 registered a year ago and 79 in June 2024), and Citroen ranked third, having increased the number of registered vehicles by almost 2.4 times versus July 2023 but decreasing the number of registrations by 3.7 times from June 2024 to 78 vehicles.
The market's top five of July also included MAN with 69 registered vehicles (versus 50 in July 2023) and Volvo with 66 registrations (49).
In all, 7.200 new vehicles added to the Ukrainian fleet of trucks and specialized vehicles in January-July, up 17% year-on-year, Ukravtoprom said.
Meanwhile, the Auto-Consulting information analysis group reported a 23% increase in the segment of trucks with a full weight of over 3.5 tonnes in July.
"Such a strong growth inspires optimism, considering that the market was quite saggy in recent months. This is not the anomaly of a particular shipment, as numerous market dealers have reported the growth," media cited the group's website as saying.
According to experts, Scania was the July leader having sold 100 trucks and occupying 22% of the market. Volvo, MAN, Iveco, Ford and Renault dealers have also done well.
The group noted the resumed delivery of utility and construction vehicles, as well as procurement of cranes for cleaning up debris and repairing damaged homes.
The truck segment grew 8% year-on-year to 2,853 in January-July 2024, Auto-Consulting said.
According to Ukravtoprom, the registration of new commercial vehicles in Ukraine grew 65% year-on-year to 11,300 in 2023. Auto-Consulting said, for its part, that the segment of trucks with the weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes grew by 56.5% to 4,853.
