EU, Kazakhstan agree on work on liberalizing visa system, will find positive solution shortly - Foreign Ministry

ASTANA. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The European Union and Kazakhstan plan to find a solution for liberalizing the visa system in the near future, Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu said.

"Liberalization of the EU visa system for citizens of Kazakhstan is an important area of our work. We have agreed to work together with Borrell in order to find a positive solution to the problem in the near future," Nurtleu told reporters after talks with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Astana.

Borrell reaffirmed the EU's interest in the joint development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, he said.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Europe. The commissioned Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is part of the corridor.
